The Results

Look, we love vinyl records, but we don’t love all the admin, IT and bookkeeping crap we had to do to turn our passion into a business. C2 has made a huge difference, linking and automating stuff we didn’t even know existed. Life is easier, which gave us more time to come up with fun ideas on website and promotions and stuff, which has increased sales. Oh, yeah. And C2 did most of that stuff too!

The Brand

“The thing about record shop customers is that they’re the coolest people around.”

The challenge: To scale and modernize, without losing any nostalgia

The Website

Crucial to this Redrum Records Project: KISS.

The website facilitates search queries and integrated order management. Nothing else. The goal is to bring people into a store and bask in the ambiance.

Photography

We weren’t vinyl buyers before meeting with Redrum Records. We certainly are now. Once there are 3 or 4 people browsing, the atmosphere of a store changes. Everyone has a passion for music. The conversation naturally sparks, and everyone makes a new friend.

Every day.

Our job wasn’t to go in and reduce checkout times, it was to reinforce and share this environment.

Technology

The first thing RR needed was a culture upgrade. The company had a total of 8 apps used to communicate between staff and management, both professionally and interpersonally.

Discord was picked because it was free, and you can organize your server to keep critical information separate from your lounge.

Shopify was a no-brainer for Redrum Records. They had already tried to build an online store using the platform, and integrating Shopify POS was a game-changer for their in-store sales flow and accounting integrations. The incredible app ecosystem enabled something the owners desperately wanted. Local pickup, and transfers to nearby stores.

We are Mailchimp experts, and one of the first things we wanted for Redrum was a strong email marketing program. First on the list was automation, so abandoned cart emails and all transactional emails were overhauled so they could do some heavy lifting.

Our goal with onboarding customers to QuickBooks is always to get them as automated as possible so you have less work to do. With Redrum, however, we opted to disable Shopify integrations because they have so many cash sales and low-value transactions. Importing every transaction was causing reconciliation problems and wasting time. The simple solution won out, as it usually does. Reconcile bank deposits with payouts and sales reports.

Quick, Simple, Easy. Just how we like it.
