The Brief
The seed that would grow into Your Local Refillery was planted in 2019. At the Zero Waste Conference in Vancouver, BC, the then Mayor of Helsinki, Finland finished her speech and was asked a question.
"What is something that I can do to make a difference as an individual to help reduce waste production?"
She laughed.
The response that came was disappointing, leave it to governments she said, individuals cannot make a big enough difference.
The sad truth was, she was right. As a person, any change you make is just a drop in the ocean of waste produced by a company, or a city, or a country. The scale that these parties are operating at are overwhelming.
Your Local Refillery is an attempt to answer this problem one bottle at a time.
The owner of Your Local Refillery approached us expecting a no. She had a tight budget, and a small scope, but also a searing memory, and a big dream.
